For William, life was as wicked and malicious as the beast he was trying destroy. Decades spent living a life of extravagance, domination and ravenous hunger haunted him. But when you live forever, the past never stays buried. And that which wishes to control you, will never let you go. William thought he found his escape, his one and only love, but the thing he fears the most could be the only thing that saves them. Or, it could doom them all.
REVIEW
Falling from Eternity by Megan Duncan was not what I expected. The pace of the book was a little too slow for my liking. I found it difficult to connect with the characters and I was expecting more twists and turns. The relationship between William and Autumn was very sweet and I would have enjoyed this book far more had Autumn been introduced earlier in the book. However, Megan Duncan did an excellent job creating Ming, the villain in this book. Megan will also be holding a giveaway on her own personal blog during the month of December, offering 5 ebook copies, and a FFE keychain. http://meganduncan.blogspot.com/

REVIEW
Poison Princess by Kresley Cole is the first book that I have had the pleasure of reading and I can say with 100 percent certainty that it will not be the last. The storyline of Poison Princess was incredibly fresh and I loved every single thing about it especially the role that the Tarot cards play throughout the book. Each of the characters had their own strong points and each had a significant role in the plot. I couldn't get enough of Jack and Evie because despite their differences the attraction between the two was so strong. Poison Princess is without a doubt one of the best books that I have read in 2012 and I am already eager to read the next book in this wonderful new series.

because his every touch makes her desperate for more.
A man with a life sentence

both the law and deadly undercover operatives who know of his strange abilities,
he needs to avoid trouble, but every heated kiss tells him the fire between them
could be just as devastating as the flames that changed him
forever.
REVIEW
Fever by Joan Swan starts with a bang with a
serious case of mistaken identity that sets the stage for a sizzling hot
romantic suspense novel that will leave your pulse racing. The character of
Teague Creek is the token bad boy with a rough exterior that hides his gentler
side. The way each of the characters play off one another and their dialogue is
just one of the things that I love about this book. I found myself liking the
characters Alyssa and Teague more and more as the story progressed because
Alyssa was not afraid to fight back at all and while Teague does certain things
most people wouldn't do, I was able to understand the reasoning behind his
actions. I mentally applauded when Luke and Teague overcame their differences
and worked together to stop Zasser, someone from Teague's past who is ruthless
and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. The relationship between Alyssa
and Teague proves that the line between love and hate is indeed a thin
one.
ETERNAL COMMITMENT IS NOT ON HER
AGENDA... Scorned by the vampire community for her lack of power,
Isabel Anthony lives a carefree existence masquerading as human—although
drifting through the debauched human nightlife, she prefers the patrons' blood
to other indulgences. But when she meets the sexy, arrogant king of the
vampires, this party-girl's life turns dark and dangerous.
BUT
TIME'S RUNNING OUT FOR THE KING OF THE VAMPIRES... Dead-set on
finding the prophesied mate who will unlock his fiery powers, Thad Morgan must
find his queen before their race is destroyed. Their enemies are gaining ground,
and Thad needs his powers to unite his subjects. But when his search leads him
to the defiant Isabel, he wonders if fate had gotten it seriously
wrong...
King of Darkness by
Elisabeth Staab begins at an even pace and picks up speed quickly. The
characters of Thad and Isabel are complete opposites yet that is one of the
things that makes this book so enjoyable to read. Romance readers will
undoubtedly be pleased that there are multiple romantic relationships that form
throughout this novel. Elisabeth Staab makes the relationships between her
characters more real by adding plenty of internal and external conflict. I'm
sure that many people who've read this thrilling paranormal romance are as eager
as I am to see what Elisabeth Staab has in store for the diverse cast of
characters she has created.
Deep within the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the battle for
supremacy rages on between two vampire coalitions:
Guardian enforcers sworn to protect humanity, and
Darkbloods, rogues who kill like their ancient ancestors… Hot-blooded and
hard-edged, Tristan Santiago has an uncanny ability to see beneath the surface—a
skill that serves him well as the Guardians' region commander. But when a deadly
plot against his fellow vampires is uncovered, he must turn to the one woman he
can't read: the beautiful yet mysterious Roxanne Reynolds, whose sensual
presence soothes his tormented memories. Roxy had put love before duty once
before, with devastating results. But to root out a dangerous traitor in their
midst, she must put her faith in Santiago, the one man skilled enough to break
through her defenses. Posing as lovers, Santiago and Roxy work side by side—and
discover a powerful craving that threatens to consume them both….
Seduced
by Blood by Laurie London is the first book I have read by her and it certainly
will not be the last. Although this book is a part of a series, it can also be
read as a stand alone novel. I loved the character Roxanne because of the
calming effect she had on Santiago, they balanced each other out nicely. The
pace of Seduced by Blood was just how I like books to be - not too fast but not
slow either. All of the characters from Laurie London's Sweetblood series had a
role in this book which was helpful to me and it helped me get to know each
character - some more than others. Laurie London has earned herself another fan.
The woman he found in the woods out back was....not from around
here....
"Why in hell can't you try, just a little bit, to get along with
the people here? Can you tell me that? Are you deliberately trying to make Rosa
hate you?" She closed her eyes, shook her head. "Men do not understand these
things. I will explain for you. That receptionist wants you. She cannot claim
you because I am in her way. That is the only reason she dislikes me,
Thomas." "Claim me?" Janella sighed hard, pushing one hand through her
long dark hair. "Oh, I know it does not work that way here. She has to make you
want her first. But do you not see, that is what she was trying to do. She does
not dare to defy me or challenge me for you, so she resorts to this underhanded
manner of trying to lure you to her with gifts of food and face paint and scanty
clothing." Thomas chewed his lower lip for a moment. Then he nodded
thoughtfully. "So you figure Rosa thinks that you plan to...uh...claim me for
yourself. Is that it?" She sighed, seemingly relieved that he'd finally
caught on. "Yes." "And do you? Plan to claim me, I mean?" She tilted her
head to one side, looking him up and down. "I might. I have not decided." "I
see." Thomas paced across the kitchen, picked up his cup from the table and
carried it to the sink. As he rinsed it he spoke slowly, evenly. "Well, before
you make any plans, Janella, I ought to tell you one thing." "Yes?" He
turned slowly, slung the cup into the sink and faced her. "No one is going to
claim me. Not you. Not Rosa. Nobody. Understand?" She frowned. "Oh, Thomas,
do not be foolish. I did not say I wanted you forever. Only for sex."
Dr.
Duffy's Close Encounter by Maggie Shayne is a blend of sweet romance and a
little science fiction. Although I usually am not a fan of anything science
fiction, I found that I enjoyed reading this book far more than I expected to.
The pace at which the story was set was perfect and I think any female who reads
Dr. Duffy's Close Encounter will really identify with the character of Janella
because she wanted what we all want - love. The other thing I really liked about
this book was how the character of Thomas Duffy who was so closed off to any
emotions, finally let the walls he built to keep others out crumble.
Fire:
It is Kaye Brand's power to wield. But outcast from her kind, she's been selling
herself to the highest bidder - money for her survival in exchange for a magic
glimpse into the flames of the future. As one of the angelic Order, Jack Bastian
has no use for a female like Kaye, as provocative and unexpected as her blazing
beauty. Yet he has no choice but to hire her to uncover the secrets of his sworn
enemy and her former fiance, Ferrol Grey. War is inevitable between the
defenders of the Order and the mage houses who threaten to engulf the world in
Shadow. For Jack, mage-born Kaye is off limits, no matter how hot the impossible
attraction between them. But in the coming darkness, beset by danger and desire,
everything is about to change...
Fire Kissed by Erin Kellison is
the first book in this thrilling new series. The novel starts at a fast pace and
does not slow down at all. The character of Kaye was exactly how I prefer
heroines to be - strong willed, tough, and not afraid to defend themselves or
anyone they care about. The way Erin Kellison developed the relationship between
Kaye and Jack Bastian was wonderfully done and the villain was so wicked that he
gave me chills. I am eager to see what Erin Kellison has in store for book two
of this exciting and dramatic new series.
1. If
someone looked at your browsing history right now, what kind of things
would we find?
I’m not sure you
want the answer to that, but here goes. There are definitely several searches
checking on the rate of a body’s decomposition. A human body, to be precise.
There are also a few searches on symptoms and phases of death by a variety of
means. Oh, and I’ve been frequenting the American Girl website (it’s almost my
daughter’s birthday).
2. If you
could write about any subject that is near and dear to your heart, what would it be and why?
This is a hard
one, because I feel that there’s no if
about it. I pretty much write about what’s near and dear to my heart. In The Tension of
Opposites, I focused on a girl who returned home two years after her
kidnapping. Kidnapping a huge fear of mine, but losing oneself is as well, and
this girl was so lost after her time away from home. Friendship and the
evolution of a person are also big for me, and I explored those in The Tension of
Opposites as well. As for One
Moment, I really wanted to capture that feeling of never being able to
turn back the clock – that there are no do-overs in life – and that it only
takes one moment to change everything in a person’s world. One
Moment also explores the complexities of friendship, as well as the
heartbreak of losing someone you love. This book was inspired by a loss that I
experienced years ago.
3.
Do you have a favorite song, album, or playlist to write to?
I need silence to
write efficiently. If I listen to music while I work, the lyrics tend to make
their way into my story. Which can be good. But it can also be very bad. When
I’m working on a first draft, I do, however, try to listen to music that fits
the mood of whatever scene I’m currently writing to keep in the groove. The type
of music obviously changes from day to day and week to week.
4. What
was the first thing you did after the debut of the first book you wrote?
After
the debut, I just took a huge breath. Reaching release day felt like crossing
some momentous finish line, and once the big day arrived I could finally relax.
I had done everything I could for my book; it was time for it to stand on its
own.
5. What
is your biggest pet peeve?
People who don’t
wear seatbelts. I mean, hello? They’re proven life savers!
6. Do you
have any guilty pleasures?
Chocolate. And
then some more chocolate, please. I also love horror movies.
7. What
was your favorite book as a teen?
Such a hard
question! I remember devouring In Cold
Blood by Truman Capote when I was in high school (I love horror books as
well as horror movies). I have always been a huge fan of Stephen King. When I
was younger, I was into Christopher Pike and Judy Blume.
8. If an
aspiring writer asked for advice what would you tell them?
Write and write
and write some more. And when you take a break, read. Think about each scene and
what purpose it serves when considering the whole of the story. Ask lots of
questions. And do plenty of research on the business end of things before you
attempt to snag an agent.
9. What
is the one thing that scares you more than anything else?
Besides the
obvious answer of something happening to family or friends, I’d have to say
ghosts. I’ve never had a paranormal encounter, but I’m a believer. I am a huge
baby when it comes to watching scary movies (think of the Paranormal
Activity series or The
Exorcist), but I love them!
10. What
book are you reading right now?
Crown
of Embers by Rae Carson.
It’s the second in her Fire and
Thorns trilogy. Freaking incredible!
Optional
questions :)
Favorite
Meal:
Chocolate chip
cookies. And ice cream. With Hershey’s syrup. And maybe a little whipped cream.
Plus sprinkles. Yup. That’ll do.
Favorite
Drink (alcoholic/non-alcoholic):
Water. I do not
leave the house without my water.
Sweet or
Salty snacks?
Okay, so, does
chocolate count? Because I think it should be a major food group.
All time
favorite movie:
Oh, now! How do I
answer this one? I’d need a genre and a year and way more to narrow this down. I
just can’t. If I list one I’ll feel like I’ve cheated on all the
others.
Best book
to movie adaption:
I’m going to have
to go with The Green
Mile. Amazing. (Only because I have yet to see The Perks of
Being a Wallflower. I hope it’s as good as I expect it to be!)
Worst
book to movie adaption:
Lord of the
Flies, the original. It’s crack-you-up laughable. (Random Fact: This book
was on the curriculum when I was a high school English teacher. So was The Perks of
Being a Wallflower – one of my faves to teach!)
1. If someone looked at your browsing history right now, what kind of things would we find?
You might find 007 kind of stuff! The Internet is a world of information, be careful what you wish for, I just might find it for you!
2. If you could write about any subject that is near and dear to your heart, what would it be and why?
Music! Why? Because I live and die for music, so of course I'd want to write about music and its industry. The music industry is changing so much every day, and music really is a universal language. I feel that right now there is a gap in music, as though something is missing. I say this because right now I hear only a handful of artist who are at the top of their game with a real broad spectrum of giving out a message that is not only positive, but somewhat spiritual in a sense, and in my opinion that is so important in this day and age.
Bands like Thirty Seconds to Mars, Linkin Park, and Thank God U2 are still around sending out great messages with their varied styles of music. Even though I've always been the smallest fish in a very big pond of the music scene, I’ve been everybody's best kept secret underground, the lowest of the low on all music business totem poles, and an underdog of all underdogs within the music scene. Anyone one who has met me and heard my music, from Atlanta, to Boston, London to Los Angeles, has heard the conviction I sing and play with when telling my stories of life and love. Many have told me they know just what I am speaking of when I sing and play. Yet, it seems over the last decade the music business has made the music scene more like the river of blood rather than the river of life with the cattle call of television competitions that have lead so many singers and musicians like cattle straight to the slaughter.
3. Do you have a favorite song, album, or playlist to write to?
When writing, I do listen to music and my playlist most likely spans 3 centuries. I listen to anything from Mozart to Johnny Cash, Late Night Alumni to traditional Greek folk music, and of course I love country music. For instance right now I am listening to the guitars of Strunz of Farah. When I write, I write from a place deep inside the core of my soul, and it's more about environmental ambiance and emotion for me. When I come home to write I like to experience the feeling that I've stepped into another world when I walk through the door. So, I've taken great steps to create a fantastically whimsical home. One would notice the flying dragon or flying frog or fairy hanging from the ceiling, or maybe even the little mythical beast running around, better known as my Chihuahua puppy, Rooney!
4. What was the first thing you did after the debut of the first book you wrote?
I was still pretty excited when I completed the project, as I had been working on that book for what seems like my entire life. I think I high five'd everyone I knew or met for a week. I was just happy to even have the chance to put a piece of my work out there to share with the public. For The Love Of Cyprus is a piece of Greek Cypriot history, and though it's historical fiction it is fiction based on truth. It took a while to finish the book. I'd written small novellas with whimsical childhood dreams of mine, but had never published because mostly they were homemade gifts to family members for holidays or birthdays. With my first book, "For the Love of Cyprus", I didn't want to do the one thing I have seen so many do, which is writing a book just to say they are now an author. I am modest person, and I wanted people to read my book because they felt is seems interesting and has a message, and for whatever reason piques the reader’s interest. I didn't want people to just read it because I said I was an author writing a book that I was going to publish someday. I thought it was very important to put out historical truth with cold hard facts to educate people, so I was very passionate about explaining the history of the 1974 Turkish invasion on the Island of Cyprus, and at a young age the only way I felt I could do that was to wrap that history around a fictional epic love saga that may or may not be true, only the God's (and my parents) know for sure. I was just happy to be able to publish it and get it out there for people to read!! I was 11 years old when I came up with the idea to write the book, but I didn't start typing the manuscript until I was 13 years old, because most of it was in a school notebook. I didn't finish and publish it independently until almost a Decade later. My Mother, who is my best friend, helped me edit it and publish the book and my friend and author, Noah Mullette-Gillman, inspired me to go ahead and put it out there. I felt lucky and blessed that I could do this in the United States. I mean after all, I could be working in potato fields, bare foot and pregnant with 14 kids like my Grandmother was at my age.
5. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Watching people who go from relationship to relationship looking for some kind of self-happiness is probably my biggest pet peeve. I’ve watched people go from boyfriend to boyfriend, girlfriend to girlfriend, wife to husband rebound and back, how do they do it? That’s just not the shape of my heart and I feel it's a vicious cycle that corrupts the soul. I think it's really sad and I have seen it happen a lot. Sometimes I think I should have been a love/sex therapist, though I probably am better at doing that kind of thing through my music and books. I think people need time to heal and soul search after a break up, especially before they go making more soul ties with another person they could potentially screw up for life because for personal self-gratification or for simple excuses such as, “I am lonely.” Lonely? That’s what friends are for, but that doesn't mean you have to get it twisted. I think many of the people I love and care for have been a little guilty of this at one time or another. I think if they would give themselves a little time alone to heal they might find their soul mate waiting right around the corner. I’ve been that girl on the other end of someone else’s baggage, though details are not my cup of tea and this is not the place to go into it. Still. It hurts. Yet my biggest pet peeve is the stuff some of the best novels and songs in the world come from. OH and let's not forget, guys who try to date me online. That’s the runner up pet peeve. Lol.
6. Do you have any guilty pleasures?
It's a secret and I can't give all my secrets away. *winks*
7. What was your favorite book as a teen?
Bram Stoker's Dracula. Dracula's love for Mina was so passionate, the telepathic love connection so deep that not even death could kill the true love their two souls shared. The spiritual bond between them was unbreakable and that is what made it so romantic.
I also enjoyed “The Silver Kiss” by author Annette Curtis Klause. I always had high hopes for some vampire boy with blue eyes to come woo me away in the middle of the night with his guitar under a full moon in a big city by the beach.
8. If an aspiring writer asked for advice what would you tell them?
Write from the heart. Research your theme. Get a good grammar checker and a good program with a good spell checker. And, no matter how long it takes, two words a day is better than no words a day. Go for it, you’ll never know until you try. Just DO it! Write On!
9. What is the one thing that scares you more than anything else?
I can’t even say what my greatest fear is because I can’t even imagine it. Being without my family... I can’t even say it because it makes me want to cry, too. Without my family it would be a world without love and some kind of comfort somewhere sometimes for me.
10. What book are you reading right now?
I am re-reading The Urantia Book for some research for my writings. The Urantia Book (sometimes called the Urantia Papers or The Fifth Epochal Revelation) is a spiritual and philosophical book that discusses God, Jesus, science, cosmology, religion, history and destiny. It originated in Chicago sometime between 1924 and 1955. The authorship remains a matter of speculation. The authors introduce the word "Urantia" as the name of the planet Earth and are self-described as superhuman personalities delivering the book as a revelation.
11. Favorite Meal:
Anything Greek, Italian or Indian as long as there are no snails involved, I don't eat snails, or things that move, that are slimy looking and live in a shell.
My family in Cyprus eats them and it grosses me out when they slurp them from the shell...eww the sound.
12. Favorite Drink (alcoholic/non-alcoholic)
I love me some sweet ice tea!!! Southern sweet ice tea, none of this fake sweet ice tea with fake lemon in it.
13. Sweet or Salty snacks?
Both with a little spicy! I am in LOVE with those sun dried spicy chili mango's from Trader Joe's
14. All-time favorite movies
My all-time favorite film is Legend. This is a quick rundown of it taken from IMbD. “Once, long ago in a world of unicorns, elves, fairies, goblins, and demons, the Lord of Darkness beseeches Mother Night for her protection, lamenting his isolation, exiled underground by an unseen force. He senses the presence of the Two Unicorns who safeguard The Power of Light, and bids his goblin servant, Blix, to find and destroy them. They are to bring him the horns, to create an eternal night of cold darkness, so he can roam the lands freely and ensure sunshine's warmth never returns to the realm of Light.” I also have to tip my hat to stories like Labyrinth and The NeverEnding Story, because those films really helped me perceive and understand the difference of supernatural beings of Dark & Light and decide what path I was going to go down in my life. And of course one of my all-time favorite movies My Big Fat Greek Wedding only because I can relate so well to the culture of the Greek family in the story.
15. Best book to movie adaption
I believe Mario Puzo's movie “The Godfather” only because the film went right along with the book.
I'd love to be able to say “Lord Of The Rings”, but I only read “The Hobbit” and “The Silmarillion”, while yes the movie trilogy was well put together and one of my favorites I'd have to give that nod to Mario Puzo's “The Godfather” as the best, very good book, very good movie.
16. Worst book to movie adaption
V.C. Andrews Flowers in the Attic, while still a fantastic movie, if you have never read the entire series and even still entertaining for some who have, was anticlimactic for me. Who do I have to beg in Hollywood to remake this movie into a movie trilogy? I found this series of books to be captivating, horrific and romantic all at the same time.

1. If someone looked at your browsing history right now, what kind of things would we find.
Big Fish, GSN Casino, MSN, Facebook and Zynga
2. If you could write about any subject that is near and dear to your heart, what would it be and why?
I'd write about my family growing up. It was just me, my brother and my parents. We were a military family and traveled all over so it was often just us in strange places. I've lost my brother and dad in the last couple of years and I'm afraid of those memories slipping away, too. I'd like something for my son to read later on in life when it would amuse him and he'd be a bit more nostalgic.
3. Do you have a favorite song, album, or playlist to write to?
Phantom of the Opera. I listen to that almost every day. The few times I try to write without it generally don't work out so well. I have also experimented with the soundtrack to Les Mis but it doesn't have the same effect.
4. What was the first thing you did after the debut of the first book you wrote?
I had a celebration dinner at On The Border, my favorite Mexican restaurant. I had a margarita. Or two!
5. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Haters and nay-sayers. In this business we get rejection from all fronts. I don't think we should get it from our contemporaries. There is enough space for all of us in the publishing world and to ridicule, harass or otherwise put-down a fellow author is very uncool. Especially if it's for some reason that's as stupid as not liking the genre they write. So what. Don't read it. But that's not a reason to put someone down and belittle them. We should support each other, not tear each other down.
6. Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Reality TV. I LOVE America's Next Top Model (except I hated the new college season. The girls were stupid and whiny and the judging panel sucked - except Kelly Catrone. Love her. I hate the new rating system, too. Oops, another pet peeve!) I also love Project Runway. And Baseball! On the food side of guilty pleasures, I adore a double dip of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream from Braums every once in a while. Or once a week.
7. What was your favorite book as a teen?
The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss
8. If an aspiring writer asked for advice what would you tell them?
Write every day, listen to yourself above all others, it's YOUR book and your ideas. If someone tells you that you can't write that, do it anyway. Believe in yourself and your work. Hone your craft constantly. Steer clear of negativity. Get into a good critique group or partnership but don't be afraid to get out of a bad one.
9. What is the one thing that scares you more than anything else?
That I won't get all the stories out of my head and onto the page before they disappear. I have entire notebooks filled with story ideas that I haven't gotten around to. Every time I pull it out, I get the itch to jump projects!
10. What book are you reading right now?
Heather Graham's The Presence, Debbie Macomber's God's Guest List and Donald Maass' How to Write the Breakout Novel.
Optional questions :)
Favorite Meal:
Guacamole Live and Chicken Fajitas from On The Border
Favorite Drink (alcoholic/non-alcoholic)
Frozen Margarita/ Diet Dr Pepper
Sweet or Salty snacks?
Both!
All time favorite movie
Oooh, this is hard. My top ten list has like 90 movies in it. How about my top three? Disney's Beauty & the Beast, Braveheart and The Replacements (with Keanu Reeves)
Best book to movie adaption
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy or Apollo 13 based on the book Lost Moon
1. If someone looked at your browsing
history right now, what kind of things would we find?
Hmm, research,
lots of research on Druids, Fae, vampires and black magic.
2. If you
could write about any subject that is near and dear to your heart, what
would it be and why?
I love fantasy and the Fae, so I always enjoy writing their
stories.
3. Do you have a favorite song, album, or playlist to write
to?
Actually, I love rock n’ roll and some country, but when I write, I phase
off this planet and don’t listen to anything. I can’t listen to anything but
what my characters are telling me.

The first book I wrote was a

Random House. We celebrated big time.

All time favorite movie, hmm, I have so

Best book to movie adaption: Harry Potter, Twilight series—I think the
movie did an amazing job at adapting to the books which I have read over and
over.
Worst book to movie adaption—anything Steven King, oh my gosh
they make a mess of his books.
1. If someone looked at your browsing history right now, what kind of things would we find.
Good question! A lot of eclectic stuff. Book research on both the Release Me trilogy and my demon hunting soccer mom series (so demons and light bdsm/sex toy stuff), quite a few pages relating to teaching reading and learning math facts (I homeschool), tons of Facebook pages, and searches for recipes and local restaurant menus. And more miscellaneous stuff!
2. If you could write about any subject that is near and dear to your heart, what would it be and why?
Probably aging and the difficulty of dealing with finding your mind young but your body frail. (I recently witnessed my mother having a couple of neurological episodes and strokes that put her into a nursing home). I actually have a story worked out, but it's very different from my usual voice/milieu!
3. Do you have a favorite song, album, or playlist to write to?
I don't like writing to music, so no. On occasion, (like when I'm trapped in a hotel room with kids) I write to the soundtrack to Sherlock Holmes or The Holiday. Both by Hans Zimmer.
4. What was the first thing you did after the debut of the first book you wrote?
Debut-I don't remember! Sale? Ran around the office tormenting the other attorneys and secretaries with my news, then called every person I'd ever met, ever :)
5. What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who see me reading (in public) and feel like that's a reason the chat!! Hello? Reading here!
6. Do you have any guilty pleasures?
I am utterly without guilt about all my pleasures :) But, ah, yes. Food wise, massive bowls of berries drenched in cream. Movie-wise, Pretty Woman and similar I-will-cry-and-the-end romances. Or action flicks :) Favorite guilty pleasure: go to the movies and sit with a giant drink and a humongous, refillable buttered popcorn!
7. What was your favorite book as a teen?
As a youngish teen, Flowers in the Attic. I thought it was soooo scandalous!
8. If an aspiring writer asked for advice what would you tell them?
Write as much as possible. Develop your voice. Don't keep massaging the same chapter. Write some more.
9. What is the one thing that scares you more than anything else?
Something bad happening to my kids.
10. What book are you reading right now?
Gone With The Wind on audio and The Westing Game and Valley of the Dolls in print
Optional questions :) Favorite Meal: Steak at a fabulous steakhouse
Favorite Drink (alcoholic/non-alcoholic) Coffee with heavy whipping cream, Red wine, Dirty vodka martini
Sweet or Salty snacks? Salty
All time favorite movie Used to be Star Wars, and while I still love it, I think I'll have to go with Raiders of the Lost Ark
Best book to movie adaption
The Woman in Black was awesome.
Worst book to movie adaption Lucky Jim. Heard of it? No? There's a reason for that ...
1. If someone looked at your browsing history right now, what kind of things would we find?
Googling of Les Miserable, the movie.
Googling Christmas cookie recipes.
Googling for historical sex books (research, I swear)
All in all, this is pretty tame for me as of late, lol.
2. If you could write about any subject that is near and dear to your heart, what would it be and why?
I actually did write a book that was near and dear to me. It's called THE PERFECT SCANDAL.
I wrote it for two reasons. It touches on the history I love most, which is Polish history (given that I'm Polish). The other reason was
to write about something that touched me. And that something would be a person who cuts themselves.
The hero is a cutter. I did this to honor several people I know who are cutters. And even though my story is a historical,
I perceive people of history to be no different from us today. They were just living under different societal constraints. And that was how I envisioned this unraveling. The angst and self-loathing of a cutter is an emotional story I just had to share and write.
3. Do you have a favorite song, album, or playlist to write to?
I usually find myself writing to a variety of songs/albums. I use songs to evoke a mood within me.
On my website (www.DelilahMarvelle.com ) I actually post to each book what song I listened to when I was writing that book.
Right now, I am writing to the Edward Scissorhands Album, in particule the ICE DANCE. It's just beautiful and haunting.
4. What was the first thing you did after the debut of the first book you wrote?
I went shopping, lol. Seriously. Shopping and dinner with friends and family to celebrate.
5. What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who bash other people in any online forum.
6. Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Anything with gluten in it. I gave up gluten and so when I sneak it it's soooooooo good.
7. What was your favorite book as a teen?
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I just related to that book so much.
8. If an aspiring writer asked for advice what would you tell them?
Keep writing and keep growing as a writer. The two biggest mistake aspiring writers make is
they give up on themselves and their writing or they feel like there is nothing more to learn because they've been writing for over a decade.
It took me almost 11 years to get published and to this day my writing is still changing and evolving. Having faith is key. Surround yourself
with people who will support you through not only the good but especially the bad. Because the bad times are the times you need good support.
Bottom line, don't give up and keep writing. Because that will define not only you but your writing career.
9. What is the one thing that scares you more than anything else?
Spiders. Big ones. They scare the heckola out of me.
10. What book are you reading right now?
I'm re-reading all of Jane Austen's novels. I'm on Persuasion right now :)
Delilah is giving away 1 copy of Forever a Lord. To enter leave a comment with your favorite historical romance and your email address so I am able to contact you should you win.
